Apple armbands for iPod Mini

Along with the new iPod Minis that were announced recently, Apple introduced matching armbands for the colorful, diminutive players. They come in five colors (there's a surprise): Orange, yellow, blue, pink, and grey.

They're $29 at the Apple Store, but don't be in a big hurry. They ship in 5-7 weeks.

Otter Box keeps your iPod Mini dry and safe

Otter Products has announced the Otter Box for iPod Mini. This transparent, waterproof case, when combined with waterproof earphones, lets music fans take their iPod Mini swimming, boating, water skiing, or just about anywhere else there's water. They already make a model of full-size iPods.

A waterproof membrane over the click wheel and a transparent window over the display means your iPod Mini is still fully functional inside the Otter Box. The case also provides significant protection from damage due to drops!

The Otter Box sells for $49.95.

Dock for the iPod Shuffle

If you just paid $99 for a base-model iPod Shuffle, it's hard to understand why you would shell out another $30 for a dock when you can just stick the Shuffle into your USB port... but Apple is now giving you the option to do just that.

Apple has introduced the iPod Shuffle Dock, and you can get it for $29 at the Apple iPod Store. Don't be in a hurry, though-- they don't ship for 5-7 weeks.

podSites: Web content on your iPod

Here's another novel idea for your iPod: podSites. It's kinda like AvantGo for your iPod. These guys have developed a web standard for creating versions of web pages which can be read on your iPod. They provide the standards and style guidelines, and allow you to create your own podSite and podCast it!

podSites are read using the built-in Notes feature on your iPod (anyone can use this-- if you enable hard drive mode access on your iPod, you can move text files to it and read them via the "Extras" menu selection. Apple has provided a nice iPod Notes User's Guide on their developer's site).

They already host a few web site feeds, and encourage wewb developers to publish their own podSite feeds there.

It may catch on, it may not-- but either way, trying it will tach you something new about your iPod.
